Event Types are the foundation of how your clients book with you in Breely. Whether you’re offering one-on-one sessions, classes, or multi-day events, Event Types let you define exactly how those bookings work — including duration, availability, and payment options.
Where to Set Up Event Types
To create a new Event Type, select "Event Types" under Scheduling in the main navigation, then click the "Add Event Type" button. This opens a setup screen where you’ll choose the type of event, set its details, and configure booking and payment preferences.
Different Event Types
When creating an event type, you’ll first choose the format that fits best:
Appointment – For individual one-on-one bookings that follow your general availability.
Class or Workshop – For group sessions where clients can book into any available date/session.
Course or Series of Classes – For multi-session programs where clients register once and are booked into the entire series.
Duration Options
Each event type includes a Duration field so you can define how long the booking lasts. You can choose between:
Minutes/Hours – Best for appointments, lessons, or short sessions.
Days – Useful for full-day events, retreats, or conferences that are a fixed number of days.
Day Range – Ideal for rentals, travel bookings, hotels, or RV parks, where a client needs to book multiple consecutive days where clients can choose how many days they want to book.
You can also block off extra time before or after the event to allow for setup, cleanup, or breaks between sessions.
Description and Image
Each event type allows you to add a description and an image to help clients understand what they’re booking.
Description – Use this space to provide details about the event, such as what clients can expect, what to bring, or who it’s best suited for.
Image – Upload an image that visually represents your service or class. This could be a photo of the space, or a relevant graphic.
Both the description and image will appear on the booking page for the event type, giving clients a clear and professional first impression before they confirm their booking.
Setting the Location
When creating an Event Type, you’ll need to decide where the appointment or class will take place. Under the Location field, you can choose from several options:
None – No location is specified. Useful if you want to handle the details separately.
Google Meet – Automatically generates a Google Meet link for each booking.
Zoom – Creates a Zoom link for the session, making it easy for clients to join virtually.
In Person – Specify a physical address where the event will take place.
From Form Question – Pull the location directly from a client’s response in the booking form (e.g., if you travel to the client’s address).
Custom Meeting Link – Add your own link to another meeting platform or custom video tool.
This flexibility ensures your event types work seamlessly whether you’re meeting in person, online, or at a client’s location.
Price and Payment Options
Breely gives you flexibility in how you collect payments for each event type. Under Price & Payment, you can set a price (or leave it as Free), and then choose from the following client payment options:
Pay in full – Collect the full amount at booking. Optionally, allow clients to skip payment if you prefer to accept payment in person.
Skip paying – No payment is required at booking.
Pay a deposit – Collect only part of the cost upfront, with the rest due later.
Require a valid credit card, but don’t charge – Useful if you want to secure a booking without collecting payment immediately.
Who the Event Type Can Be Booked With
Each event type can be linked to specific people or other bookable resources (like rooms, equipment, or shared spaces). This ensures that when a client books, the right person or resource is reserved automatically.
People – Select one or more staff members who can be booked for this event type.
Rooms/Resources – Assign rooms or other bookable items so they’re held for the same time as the appointment or class. For example, if this event type is "Book a Conference Room" then it would be booked with a room instead of a person
There’s also an experimental option to require clients to book with two or more people at the same time. This is especially useful for joint services, such as couples massages, co-facilitated sessions, or any booking that requires multiple staff/resources for a single appointment.
By setting who (or what) an event type can be booked with, you make sure your scheduling runs smoothly without double-bookings or conflicts.
Event Type Visibility
You control whether an event type is visible to clients by managing it through the Appointment block inside your forms.
When editing a form, add/edit the "Appointment" or "Class Booking" block.
You’ll see a Show Event Types list — from here, you can check or uncheck which event types should appear on that booking form.
If an event type is selected, it will be visible (public) to clients completing that form.
If it’s unchecked, the event type remains private — it won’t appear on the booking page unless you specifically include it in another form.
This flexibility lets you decide which event types are available publicly, and which are kept hidden for special use cases, such as internal scheduling, invite-only sessions, or custom booking flows.
Organizing Your Event Types
You can easily organize your Event Types to keep your offerings structured and manageable.
Categories: Click the "Add Category" button to create a group where you can have similar Event Types together (for example: “Consultations,” “Workshops,” or “Retreats”).
Drag-and-Drop Reordering: When you hover over an Event Type, handles will appear on the left side. Use these to drag an event type up or down to reorder them within a category.
Move Between Categories: You can also drag an event type into a different category if you decide to reorganize later.
This way, you can keep everything neat and easy to find — whether you’re offering a single service or a wide range of classes and events.
